Please help us wish our Jeff Robbins a VERY HAPPY retirement! We miss him already.

Jeff will officially retire on Friday, Dec. 29th. But, not before we tell you a little about him, and brag about how much we respect him...as a professional and as a friend.

Jeff was one of the original team members of Lighting Design Lab; playing a key role in its 28-year success.  A few years into it he left LDL to go into private practice, only to return (couldn't get enough of us, we figured).

Jeff Robbins_2015.jpgAs a strong proponent of education (something near and dear to his heart), Jess was an Associate Professor at Seattle's Cornish College of the Arts. He was extremely active with IES and it's Puget Sound section (running the regional education program for many years), and serving on the NCQLP Education Committee. Colleagues will tell you, "Jeff is the go-to-guy for all things research."

One of the things about Jeff that we honor is his intellect.  We will miss our lunchtime Seattle Times super quiz and crossword puzzle sessions. He's the master!  And, as our resident etymologist, Jeff hated it when works were used incorrectly; whether inadvertently or on purpose just to get at him... duplicitous was one of his biggest, because it doesn't really mean duplication of effort.

When asked what the first Monday of retirement will look like for him and his (awesome) wife Marcy, Jeff told us, as only he could, in a quiet, melodic way, "Sleep in."

We will think of you often Jeff, and if only virtually, we thank you and raise a glass of your favorite Compari & Soda and toast: "For the memories. Laughs, frustration and accomplishments. The years of professional expertise. The lessons you taught us. The friendship you gave us. Thank you! You're one of the best."

Enjoy the retirement you so richly deserve,
All of us at Lighting Design Lab
