This project is a city block long and runs along a main thoroughfare in Reno, Nevada. Since the existing building was obscure, the design team decided to minimize the building length and attract the attention of people as they passed by in automobiles by creating a monumental "graphic wall".

The "wall" is a large structure of woven stainless steel lighted by automated color mixing luminaires located on the canopy roof below. The fixtures can wash the wall with white light…..

...or with color. Some of the fixtures can also employ projection capability to support the use of gobos for representational graphics, as well. Control is by the master computer and DMX protocol software. The scene can be easily modified to any user's specifications or event.

The wall combines with a canopy structure to provide a shaded walkway for pedestrians below. Fluorescent fixtures located above shine through the canopy screen to light the walkway below. The face of each Column is washed with an adjustable metal halide accent fixture.

Pole luminaires along with companion bollards are used to add interest and pedestrian scale to the expanse of the plaza.

The drop-off roadway can be blocked to accommodate the plaza's use for outdoor events. All the site lighting is controlled via the master computer. Project budgetary goals were achieved and energy efficient light sources were employed.
