Urban Bridge

NE 90th Street Bridge
Redmond, WA

Notable Lighting:
Outdoor lighting of an elegant, sensitively designed bridge. Lighting design uses color to emphasize bridge features. Equipment used is energy efficient, scotopically rich light, and is designed for easy maintenance access.

The City of Redmond wanted an attractive design for the project. The short span of the bridge provided a challenge to the designers to develop a less-intrusive design. The use of color through paint on the deck and filtered light on the arches makes the bridge glow during the long Pacific Northwest winter nights. The use of white light provides drivers and pedestrians with dramatically improved nighttime visibility and safety.
