Notable Lighting:
Lobby and corridor lighting systems utilize energy efficient compact fluorescent and metal halide lamping. Lighting systems are layered to provide higher light levels at task areas and to provide visual cues, such as path finding and informational services to visitors of the facility. The corridor lighting system required only .8 watts per square foot and the muti-story atrium only required just slightly over 1 watt per square foot.

In the multi-story atrium high-output energy efficient metal halide lamping is provided. The high atrium ceiling is indirectly illuminated with metal halide asymmetrical flood lights, which create a soft even illumination on at the ceiling plane and opens the space up visually. Four pendants provide supplemental illumination at the floor plane and provide visual interest at the ceiling plane.

Corridors with long sweeping curved walls are illuminated with ceiling mounted compact fluorescent adjustable wall washers, which provide a soft even illumination on the floor and wall planes.

All interior lighting systems are controlled by a combination of occupancy sensors and time control. The zoning of the lighting control system mitigates the amount of interior light leaving the building at night and provides additional energy savings by shutting off lighting systems that are not in use in the evening hours.

Utilizing long life fluorescent and metal halide lamping, minimizing the number of lamp types and placing lighting systems in easily accessible locations allows the lighting in this facility may be more easily maintained. All lighting systems are engineered to provide both normal and emergency light levels.

Above:High output, energy efficient metal halide light sources provide normal and emergency light levels in open atrium and stairwells. Metal halide lighting systems are maintained at full light output on loss of power by utilizing a specialized power back-up system.

Above: Corridors utilized .8 watts per square foot. Adjustable wall washers perform double duty by accenting artwork where it was desired.
