Figure 1
Garage Elevator Lobby
Healing starts in the elevator lobby where the serenity of the back-lit
glass wall envelopes you. This futuristic feel helps create a sense that
this is the most modern facility available. Fluorescent strips at base
of wall are accessible with removable panel in toe-kick.

Figure 2
Ground Floor entry
Arriving on foot, healing begins in exterior plaza where fiber optic markers
in the pavement lead you into and continue through the lobby.

Figure 3
Entry Lobby
Floor markers mimic the rhythm of ceiling slots and slots paired with
downlights create dot/dash pattern in the ceiling, defining circulation
zone and drawing the visitor through to adjacent waiting and reception
areas. The ceiling slots, using simple fluorescent strips concealed in
coves, create a sense of overhead skylights in the wood ceiling. Visually
striking and inexpensive at the same time. Fluorescent fixtures are energy
efficient, use standard lamps and are low maintenance, addressing primary
client concerns.

Figure 4
Stair
To encourage use, the circular stair is open between lobby and functional
spaces. Daylighted from overhead skylight during the day. Fluorescent
step lights provide dramatic nighttime illumination.

visible markers at each exam room entry. Energy use 0.9 w/sf (40%
below code). Installed lighting cost of under $5.00 per square foot met
the Owner's strict budget requirements.
