(Fig 1)
Linear perforated pendants accent coffered ceiling while providing low-contrast
light for school's office. Compact fluorescent downlights with white luminous
frosted disk add sparkle while reducing glare. This creates an attractive
reception space.
(Fig 2)
Pulse-start meta halide highbays provide high lumen maintenance and use
fewer fixtures than conventional. In conjunction with white ceiling cavity,
this saves energy and is easier to maintain. PAR38 step cylinders on track
provide additional flexibility for the schools programs.
(Fig 3)
Steel linear fixtures help meet the less than $4.50/square foot budget
constraints without compromising aesthetics.
(Fig. 4)
Disk-shaped pendant mount indirect fixtures combined with linear fluorescent
fixtures supply variable downlight optics, highlighting spacious volume
of room, while maintaining a desired level of light at the workplane.
(Fig 5)
Wall-mounted display lighting in conjunction with valence lighting address
the challenge of exposed structure, while creating a nice contrast without
sacrificing visibility needs of classroom corridor.
(Fig 6)
As focal point of the building, this area is utilized as display area
for student work, and artifacts from Karsher Museum. Compact fluorescent
track on brackets provide proper contrasts and focus for displays. Additional
fluorescent lighting is added to cases for more sensitive pieces.
(Fig 7)
Pendants emphasize the high ceilings. Color-corrected HID cans supplement
and present 20 FC at the floor. All fixtures are accessible by district-owned
manlift or ladder.
(Fig. 8)
In transitional space between the gallery hallway, the library and the
classroom wing corridors, the mounting heights for the display lighting
were designed for large tapestries. Project successfully balanced NREC
with aesthetic goals.
