Now this was a remodel of major proportion. From doughnuts. . . To dollars. This former 1400 square-foot doughnut shop was transformed into a 4150 square-foot branch office for Eugene based Pacific Continental Bank.

Situated along a major arterial street, the intent was to have the internal glow from within the building attract attention on rainy Oregon days. The design strives to convey a contemporary, upscale image to a primarily business-based clientele.

While the wood slat ceilings above the account executives evoke a rich, warm feeling, their reflectivity is low. 36" luminous dome pendants with 26W CFL's provide diffuse light to enhance the ceiling above and indirect illumination to the surfaces below. Supplemental lighting was provided by recessed MR16 downlights with soft focus lenses.

Teller and drive-up areas are illuminated with continuous-row recessed parabolic fluorescent luminaires. Bronze table lamps demarcate the teller windows and provide localized illumination. A pendant luminaire uplighting the ceiling expands the volume of the lunchroom. Polished aluminum wall sconces with square perforations echo the pattern in the sandblasted grid-glass of the pendant.

Complimenting the pendant luminaires in the main space are these pier-mounted table lamps. What started out as a cocktail-napkin sketch that was inspired by their larger pendant cousins, developed into these custom modified companion luminaires. PAR ceramic-metal-halide downlights recessed in the vaulted ceiling that rises up to 20' AFF augment the ambient light in the lobby. To match the CCT of the halogen sources, 3000K was specified for the metal halide and fluorescent lamps.
