Low ceiling lights, compounded with deep coffers made lighting this high-end
auto dealership a challenging task. The design intent was to combine halogen
and fluorescent lamps to provide excellent color rendition and immediate
visual interest on all of the displayed cars..
(Fig 2)
Low-level 35K T8 lamps accent wheel rims and uplight the lower car bodies,
floating them above the showroom floor.
(Fig 3)
The diffusely reflected lamps create a sense of movement to the cars that
becomes more subtle when the overhead lighting is energized.
(Fig. 4)
T5HO 35K lamps reflect off integral curved shades mounted on the pendants
for even general illumination, and integrally mounted 90PAR38 halogen
spot lamps with internal louvers provide accent light.
(Fig. 5)
Incandescent fixtures were carefully aimed to minimize reflected glare
off the cars. Accent to general lighting ratio exceeds 10:1.
(Fig. 6)
Four lighting layers combine to allow for extremely flexible results.
Track lighting above the windows combines with the strip lights below
the windows for night lighting.
(Fig. 7)
Spot lamps literally permeate the painted finish, giving richness and
depth to even the darkest colors.
(Fig. 8)
Prior coordination with other trades ensured a system that fully integrates
into the building. The owners are thrilled with the end result, saying
that their automobiles have never looked better, and reporting increased
walk-in business and sales.
