Covered Walks
Two new office buildings, a cafeteria, data center and three parking garages
were added to the existing Safeco campus. Office lighting was designed
at 0.95 watts per sq. ft., parking garages at 0.17 watts per sq.ft., and
sitework at 0.10 watts per sq. ft. Low-voltage relay panels with photocell
and time clock inputs provide campus-wide controls. Dimming is provided
in classrooms and conference rooms.
Curving walkways connect
existing buildings with new. Curving brick lanes are illuminated with
pedestrian-scale CMH post-top fixtures. Flush in-grade CMH uplights with
spread lenses and internal glare control light wood paneled ceilings.
Office Building
CMH PAR downlights light the walkway to the office building. CMH uplights
accent a bamboo screen. Sloped ceilings and open-office workstations dictated
the choice of indirect 2-lamps F32T8 fluorescent fixtures. Cable suspension
allows transparent mounting, focusing views to outdoors. CFL downlight
illuminate circulation areas.
Office Lobby
Recessed CMH PAR downlights provide sparkle on artglass lobby floor. Recessed
CMH PAR lensed wallwash fixtures highlight wood paneled walls. Recessed
incandescent spread-lens wallwashers highlight artglass wall.
Classroom
3-lamp F32T8 direct/indirect fluorescent fixtures provide flexible lighting.
Segregated lamp compartment houses separately dimmed downlight. CFL wallwash
fixtures light perimeter. Uses a preset dimming system.
Cafeteria
Recessed CMH PAR downlights provide base layer illuminaiton. Custom pendnt
fixtures us FT40W Biax lamps. Sconces on perimeter columns add human scale.
CMH uplights integrated into columns light the perimeter ceiling.
Cafeteria Exterior
Recessed CMH wallwash fixtures illuminate the interior wood walls, column
mounted CMH uplights spill light through the louvered clerestory windows.
Small-scale surface mounted CMH PAR lamp downlights provide exterior lighting.
