Seattle Public Utilities has led the nation in recycling and water conservation. The Department of Design, Construction and Land Use oversees some of the most stringent energy codes in America. Today, the City of Seattle has a strong committment to the LEED program, with a requirement of at least a Silver LEED rating for all new City buildings.
