Spring 2008 Classes.

1) Office Lighting Update $30
Seattle: Wednesday May 21 • 10:00 am - Noon
As power densities in offices get pushed ever lower by codes and voluntary measures (30% below code anyone?), meeting design criteria becomes more challenging. To the rescue are a number of new technologies and design approaches that can help. The student will leave with an understanding of the new lamp and ballast options, a new generation of lensed luminares, and task/ambient lighting utilizing daylight.

Noon - 1 pm. Box lunch included and LDL answers your project lighting questions in a Q&A session.

2) Energy Effective Lighting Controls $30
Seattle: Wednesday May 21 • 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
One of the keys to energy efficient lighting is to not only put light only where it is needed, but to use it only WHEN it is needed. This requires lighting controls, and an understanding of how occupants actually use the spaces within their buildings. The idea is that lighting energy can be significantly trimmed while still promoting lighting quality. This class reviews lighting controls strategies, current equipment and technology, proper application, and system commissioning. The student will gain an understanding not only of the process of evaluating control types for different applications, but of the effects of lighting controls on energy use.
